WHAT IS FRINGE?
What is Fringe?
As an inspiration, the Edinburgh Festival Fringe has influenced artists worldwide. The word ‘fringe’, which means ‘border’, became ‘the Fringe’ which has been initiated from some uninvited artists from the Edinburgh International Festival with concerts and performance around the street and the church. In 1957, the Festival Fringe Society organized in Edinburgh. Hong Kong was the first city which has hosted a fringe festival in Asia. Currently in Korea, various fringe festivals are being held since the Independent Arts Festival in 1998, such as Seoul Fringe Network and Tongyong International Music Festival Fringe.
2016 SSF 프린지 페스티벌
The SSF Fringe Festival 2016 will show you new and interesting performances after seven years of experience from the former SSFs. In this year, the SSF Fringe Festival will be held from May 8th(Sun) to 14th(Sat) before the main festival. All kinds of musicians, from amateur to professional, will join to play where they could meet you very closely in Seoul. Please come and encourage the musicians of the 2016 SSF Fringe Festival.
