Violinist Heejeon Ahn enjoys a varied career as a soloist and chamber musician. Born in Seoul, South Korea, she began her violin studies at the age of five and made her debut with Korean Symphony Orchestra at age of twelve. She has appeared as a soloist with many orchestras such as Korean Symphony Orchestra, Rumania Radio Chamber Orchestra, Yonsei Symphony Orchestra and numerous local orchestras. She is also a recipient of top prizes from the journal of music competition, the music association of Korea competition, Korea art development association competition and Osaka international music competition.
Heejeon Ahn has been invited to Seoul Spring Festival of Chamber Music and collaborated in concert with many of artists including Dong-Suk Kang, Pascal Devoyon, Hsin-Yun Huang, Edward Arron and Young-Chang Cho at the Seoul Art Center, Sejong Chamber Hall and Kumho Art Hall Yonsei. Also, she has participated many festivals around the world such as Tong-young International Music Festival in Korea, Summit Music Festival in US and Académie Internationale de Musique in France. Furthermore, she has performed in many masterclasses around the world with Aron Rosand, David Kim, David Chan, Keith Robinson, Victor Danchenko, Dmitri Berlinsky, Pavel Vernikov, Charles Castleman and Nai Yuan Hu.

In 2017, she came to Cleveland for an Artist Diploma at the Cleveland Institute of Music, where she studied with Jaime Laredo and Jan Sloman. During the time, she has performed as a concertmaster of the CIM orchestra under the baton of Conductor JoAnn Falleta and she has given chamber music concerts with Jaime Laredo, Sharon Robinson and duo concert with pianist Daniel Shapiro in the faculty recital. She also was selected to participate in the Advanced Piano Trio Program under cellist Sharon Robinson, Advanced String Quartet Program under Cavani String Quartet and Intensive Duo program with Anita Pontremoli.

She has started her Doctor of Musical Art degree at the Stony Brook University from 2019, where she was offered a full scholarship. She has performed as a concertmaster of the Stony Brook Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Conductor Michelle Merrill and she has given chamber music concerts in the Staller Hall. Also, she won the 2020 SBU Concerto Competition and she will perform the Brahms Violin Concerto with the Stony Brook Symphony Orchestra.

She is teaching University Orchestra at Stony Brook with conductor Susan Deaver and her quartet is serving as Artists-in-Residence at the SUNY Rockefeller Institute of Government. They are teaching college students at SUNY Schenectady as well as children in the Empire State Youth Orchestra’s CHIME program.

She earned a Bachelor of Music and Master of Music degrees from Yonsei University in Seoul, Korea, where she studied with Dong-Suk Kang. Also, she advanced doctoral candidate at Yonsei University. She also earned an Artist Diploma at Cleveland Institute of Music, where she studied with Jaime Laredo and Jan Sloman. She is currently pursuing her Doctor of Musical Art degree at Stony Brook University under Philip Setzer, Arnaud Sussmann, Hagai Shaham and Emerson String Quartet.
